How About...Nikola Tesla

Tons of secrets hidden behind that intriguing smile

I bet you don't know many of the secrets Nikola Tesla had, I even dare to say that you may not even have heard his name or inventions. You might have heard more about someone called Thomas Alva Edison, but believe me Tesla had much more potential and vision, and you'll see why.
One of the most intriguing and interesting inventions I've heard about Tesla is the "Earthquake machine".

The Earthquake machine was originally invented by Nikola Tesla to help him with his research in Alternating Current (AC, exactly another interesting fact I bet you didn't know, it is thanks to Tesla that we all have nowadays alternating current at our homes, which provides electricity to almost all of our appliances) oscillations, which would provide him a stable source of different frequencies.

The machine was perfected by 1897 (same year in which he remotely controlled a boat, just a few years after radio waves where discovered) and tested on metal poles. It definitely worked, by adjusting or tunning to the proper material's resonance.

Late on he incredibly drove entire blocks nuts:

"After setting the little machine up, he proceeded to putter about the lab on other projects that needed attention. Meanwhile, for blocks around, chaos reigned as objects fell off shelves, furniture moved across floors, windows shattered, and pipes broke. The pandemonium didn't go unnoticed in the local precinct house where prisoners panicked and police officers fought to keep coffee and donuts from flying off desks. Used as they were to the frequent calls about diabolical noises and flashes from Mr. Tesla's block, they hightailed it over. Racing up the stairs and into the lab, they found the inventor smashing the vibrator to bits with a sledgehammer. Turning to them with accustomed old-world aplomb, he apoligized calmly: " Gentlemen, I am sorry. You are just a trifle too late to witness my experiment. I found it necessary to stop it suddenly and unexpectedly in an unusual way. However, If you will come around this evening, I will have another oscillator attached to a platform and each of you can stand on it. You will I am sure find it a most interesting and pleasurable experience. Now, you must leave, for I have many things to do. Good day."

This machine was approximately the size of an alarm clock, he could fit it inside his pocket.

Now that you know this, stay tuned for more Nikola Tesla's facts.

Thanks.

I.
