How About...Cooking Nanotubes

UANL Expert managed to Cook Carbon Nanotubes

Yes, you read correctly, Oxana Kharissova, Ph.D., managed to synthesize Carbon Nanotubes, with a microwave.

Oxana Kharissova,Ph.D.  was able to do this with a home microwave, she declared "did it because she was curious"  The microwave used (1300 watts and 2.4 GHz) allowed Dr. Kharissova to heat only the main material: ferrocene.

Ferrocene was heated up to 1,200° C, and incredibly Carbon Nanotubes were created.

Oxana, Ph.D. says "Instead of heating up a whole area, now with this method I was able to heat and concentrate all the energy in just one place: ferrocene, this is a cleaner and even more economic way"

She began this investigation as her Thesis, and thanks to here great curiosity, she decided to introduce it to a microwave.

Special thanks to Oxana Kharissova, Ph.D. for having her curious mind.

I.

Thanks.
